Q: What should I have before we start? A: You must have a Learner’s Permit (or what
used to be called a Provisional Driving License). This means taking the theory test.
See this link » for some very useful information on that test.
Q: What is your style of instruction?
A: Some people work well with a stern taskmaster, but that is not my style. Whether
you’re 18 or 80, I will treat you like a responsible adult. Driving, after all, is
an adult responsibility. My trademark is that I will analyseyour driving, lesson
by lesson, identify problem areas, and take remedial action. This relentless attention
to detail, handled tactfully, ensures steady progress, turning the novice driver
into a skilful one.
Q: What study materials do you recommend?
A: Minimum: familiarise yourself with the Rules of the Road ». (You can buy copy in
most bookshops.) There is one series of UK publications that I swear by: the DSA
Guides ». These guides are particularly good on practical, life-saving skills: breaking
on bends, wet-weather driving and so on. You can order them from Amazon and some
bookshops here stock them.
